How to Get to Arenal

The 3-Day Arenal Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive, Breathe, Explore La Fortuna

Your shuttle drops you in La Fortuna mid-afternoon. Check in, get your bearings, and resist the urge to over-schedule today. Walk the town, grab a coffee at a local soda, and get your first full look at the volcano from the main street.

In the evening, head to a thermal hot spring resort. The geothermal pools here are the real deal — naturally heated water surrounded by jungle, often with views of the volcano glowing in the dark. Eco Termales and Baldi are two strong options at different price points.

Day 2: La Fortuna Waterfall + Arenal Hanging Bridges

Start early. The hike down to La Fortuna Waterfall takes about 20–30 minutes one way — 500 steps cut into the jungle hillside, with the roar of the falls getting louder with every switchback. Kayak the shoreline in the early morning when the water is still and the volcano reflects perfectly in the surface.
