For a first trip, base yourself in or near Playa Guiones. It is the center of gravity for surf, yoga, food, and walkability. Here is the honest breakdown of the areas:

Lodging in Nosara is boutique hotels, surf-and-yoga lodges, eco-cabinas, and private villas in the hills. There are no big all-inclusive resorts, and that is on purpose. If you want a villa with a private chef and a yoga deck, Nosara does that beautifully. If you need a mega-resort, this is not the town.

Nosara is a Pacific-coast, Guanacaste destination, so it follows the standard Costa Rica seasons, not the inverted Caribbean pattern.

How to Get to Nosara

Nosara's rough access is the price of its unspoiled feel. Three real ways in, ranked by how we recommend them:

1. Fly into Liberia (LIR), then private shuttle. For most travelers this is the best route. Liberia's international airport is roughly two and a half to three hours by road from Nosara. A private shuttle handles the rough final stretch so you arrive relaxed instead of rattled from driving unfamiliar dirt roads.

2. Fly into Liberia or San Jose, then rent a 4x4. Doable, and it gives you freedom on the peninsula, but you genuinely need a 4x4, especially in green season when river crossings and rutted roads appear. A regular sedan will struggle on the last stretch into Guiones.

3. Domestic flight to the Nosara airstrip. Small planes connect San Jose to Nosara's local airstrip in about an hour. It is the fastest option and a scenic one, at a higher price. Great if you are short on time and want to skip the drive entirely.

How Many Days Do You Need in Nosara?

Nosara is a place you settle into, not a checklist you tick. Our honest guidance:

• Three days the minimum to feel the rhythm: a couple of surf mornings, a yoga class, a sunset at Pelada
• Five days the sweet spot for most travelers: add an ATV or mangrove day, real downtime, and a wellness treatment
• Seven or more the classic Nosara stay, and the length repeat visitors choose, enough to actually reset
